career progression
Skills for life:
Training will be a constant feature in my time in the royal navy. They will help me gain academic qualifications and vocational awards. As well as helping me develop my royal navy career, everything I achieve will be recognised and valued by a future civilian employer.
Promotion:
I will start my career as an able rate. On completion on initial naval training and a further 2 weeks course, I will be promoted to acting leading hand with a significant pay rise to reflect this. After that, I may go on to become a petty officer, chief petty office, then a warrant officer. If I show the right commitment, skills and academic ability, I may also have the chance to become a commissioned officer, I will be chosen for a promotion on merit. So if I work hard I can rise through the ranks.
